Essential Functions of Position:
Provide quality instructions, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Primary duties of adjunct faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Adjunct instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class.

Brief Description
Under the general supervision of the Dean of Physical Education and work direction of the Director of Athletics, the Head Women's Tennis Coach provides comprehensive leadership over the Women's Tennis team in terms of California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Compliance, recruiting, ensuring academic progress toward degree, as well as all other aspects of the intercollegiate sport program for tennis, including, but not limited to: planning and executing practice, training, and supervising student-athletes; scheduling athletic contests and arranging transportation; preparing budgets; maintaining athletic equipment, supplies and facilities; and enforcing district, college, and CCCAA rules and student requirements. Coaching assignments may include day, evening, and weekend classes, on and off campus responsibilities.

Essential Functions:
Under the direction and supervision of the Athletic Director provide knowledge and expertise in sport specific skills, techniques, teamwork and strategy; recruit student-athletes, develop appropriate conditioning, training and practice sessions. Maintain appropriate records (recruiting logs, class assessments, grade reports, fundraising events, transportation/meal requests). Attend departmental meetings.

Create a competitive environment and positive atmosphere for student-athletes. Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.

Maintain competency with respect to the knowledge of CCCAA/COA and Western State Conference rules, ensure compliance with CCCAA/COA and Western State Conference rules, and report to the Athletic Director any knowledge of violation of CCCAA/COA, Western State Conference and/or institutional rules.

Understand that actions that violate CCCAA/COA or Western State Conference rules will result in disciplinary or corrective actions as set forth in the provisions of enforcement procedures.



Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.

1. Bachelors degree or higher in any discipline and two years of professional experience or any associate degree ans six years of professional experience. OR
2. A combination of education and other accomplishments that are equivalent to the above. (If claiming equivalency, attach a separate statement which presents the basis for this claim and submit supporting evidence, e.g. transcripts, publications, other products), OR
3. Possession of a lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential
4. Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, culture, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.

Salary & Benefits:
Non-Doctorate: Hourly lecture rate $84.09, Hourly lab rate $67.28. Doctorate: Hourly lecture rate- $88.15, Hourly lab rate- $ 70.52 per hour for new credit adjunct faculty.
