Job Summary
The Assistant Track & Field Coach assists the Head Track & Field Coach in directing all activities of Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country programs within NCAA, LSC, TAMUK and TAMUS policies, guidelines and procedures. The Assistant Track & Field Coach is responsible for maintaining high academic standards to support the academic development and graduation of student-athletes while focused on student-athlete welfare.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting in successfully directing the Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross Country programs to compete for LSC and NCAA II championships
- Assisting in the recruitment of student-athletes and maintaining a culture of personal accountability in student-athlete academic performance and conduct
- Assisting in the planning and direction of all practices, travel, and meet activities including: the organization of officials, scorekeepers, statisticians, media, lodging, meals, and travel.
- Assisting, as delegated by the Head Track & Field Coach, in preparing and managing the administrative functions of the Track & Field and Cross Country programs
- Assisting in community engagement and donor relations by promoting the football program within the priorities of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics
- Successfully recruit, retain, develop, and graduate high-performing Track & Field student-athletes
- Assisting with the preparation, organization, design, and implementation of effective practice plans, off-season programs, scouting reports and recruiting systems
- Effective and timely preparation and management of administrative functions related to the Track & Field and Cross Country programs
- Effective community engagement, donor and public relations
- Consistent compliance with the NCAA II, Lone Star Conference, and TAMUK policies, rules and regulations
- Managing equipment orders and distribution

Minimum Requirements
Education – Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Experience – Two (2) years college coaching and recruiting experience or two (2) years of high school and college coaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
Prior track and field participation at the NCAA level; Prior coaching experience in coaching distance events and Cross Country; Experience with recruiting at the NCAA level preferred; USATF Level 2 certification; Must be able to travel for extended period of time for athletic contests and recruiting activities.
