SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in Washington State, that provides students with the latest cutting edge skills relevant to today's workplace. LWTech offers ten applied bachelor's degrees, more than 40 associate degrees and 93 professional certificates, in 43 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

LWTech serves the Eastside and is located within the city of Kirkland, which is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Washington. Kirkland is home to companies such as GoDaddy, Google, Astronics and EvergreenHealth, and the college is within minutes from Microsoft and Nintendo.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Admission Coach office functions to provide direct support to prospective students who are interested in Lake Washington Institute of Technology. The Admission Coach advises prospective students in navigating the college admission and enrollment process. This includes helping students: explore the college's academic and support options, align program choice with career interests, complete the online admission application, and prepare for placement testing or alternatives, as well as make basic introductions to appropriate departments and resources. The Admission Coach will work closely with Outreach & Recruitment, Assessment, Advising, Financial Aid, and other student support services, as well as manage prospective student inquiries made via email, phone, and in-person options. The Admission Coach may provide weekly presentations and may be asked to support large Outreach & Recruitment efforts on occasional nights and weekends. The person in this position must use independent judgement and decision-making skills to interpret and apply college rules and procedures.

Supervision is general and this position must exhibit routine self-motivation and reliable follow-through on all tasks. This position may assign or direct work activities of employees of lower classification, determine priorities as necessary, and check processes and completed work for accuracy. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide superior customer service to prospective students at the college
  • Advise students throughout admission process, providing clear expectations that create pathways from submitting an application to initial advising appointments.
  • Provide individual, initial program or support system exploration with prospective students
  • Connect prospective students with appropriate resources, such as advising, DSS, instructional contacts, etc.
  • Advise incoming students regarding a customized "intake and enrollment plan" for admission
  • Identify and design solutions to eliminate opportunity gaps in the admissions process
  • Monitor and respond to designated Admissions Coach email, phone, and other communication functions
  • Evaluate and improve communication plans that pertain to general college outreach and admissions programs through the Outreach and Recruitment Department
  • Lead weekly tours and information sessions
  • Support college outreach events as needed; this may involve some weekend or evening activities
  • Create and assess items in college CRM database (Radius), including contact reports, events, communication plans, etc.
  • Provide employees with guidance related to admission coaching procedure and general expectations
  • Input and maintain confidential student data using various technology applications, systems and software, including the Student Information System (PeopleSoft), web services, and internal college applications
  • Follow all SBCTC, college, and other procedures standard to a professional student services office environment
  • Prepare reports for assistant director related to admission coaching and yield
  • Analyze placement option materials and either record placement measures or advise appropriate next steps
  • Maintain and monitor annual, quarterly, and daily office calendar, using it to coordinate accomplishment of all tasks in the office
  • Maintain departmental Web site and information flowing from office into college Web sites
  • Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Combination of experience and formal education that allows the candidate to meet the following expectations (for most competitive candidates this looks like 2 or more years of experience in a similar position and a minimum of an associate's degree):
    1. Provide superior customer service to students and colleagues
    2. Consistently use excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
    3. Work successfully with individuals of varied race/ethnicity, ages, backgrounds, and abilities
    4. Independently organize work as needed to complete complex assignments with competing deadlines
    5. Use independent judgment to solve problems
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems preferred

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Salary for this position is $4,539 per month. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, exempt position. Typically, work hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
