Assistant Athletic Director of Operations

St. Edward's University of Austin, Texas invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Director of Operations. The assistant director of operations will support the overall mission and strategic goals of the university and the athletic department. Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of all athletic facilities with an emphasis on safety, functionality, and presentation; assist in developing and executing an annual plan to increase the revenue generated by the Department of Athletics; providing leadership in departmental policy, budget, and goal setting. The individual in this position must promote St. Edward's University in a professional manner at all times while promoting a positive and productive working relationship with other staff members.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

Supervision and management of all indoor and outdoor athletics facilities.
  • Manage maintenance requests to ensure that all facilities are in optimal playing conditions for all SEU athletic practices, competitions, and external events.
  • Create and implement a preventative maintenance plans for facilities and major equipment.
  • Evaluate existing building maintenance and system efficiencies/deficiencies and propose improvements as needed.
  • Serve as point of contact for field maintenance vendor (RS3).
  • Ensure COVID protocols are followed.
  • Coordinate and schedule athletic facilities for both practice and competition of NCAA athletic teams, and external events, while communicating with RecWell and maintaining a master calendar.
  • Coordinate and supervise game day event management
    • Train and supervise student staff to assist with game-day setup, game management, and breakdown for all home athletic events.
    • Liaison with SEU Police Department for crowd control and parking needs.
    • Manage ticketing and concessions.
    • Serve as a game administrator.
  • Support execution of an annual plan to increase the revenue generated by the Department of Athletics
    • Manage on-line merchandising.
    • Manage corporate partners.
    • Manage radio and merchandising agreements.
    • Manage ticketing and concessions.
    • Oversee athletic camp program
  • Work with architects, contractor, physical plant as it pertains to new athletic facility or renovation projects.
  • Manage the bid proposals for LSC and NCAA postseason events hosted by SEU. Direct and oversee game day operations for those events.
  • Work actively toward accomplishing the University long range plan and serve on campus-wide committees
  • Other duties as assigned.


For consideration, a Bachelor's degree and two years related work experience. Master's Degree in sport or facility management or related field preferred. Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, specifically pertaining to hosting games and events. Ability to operate sport venue equipment such as scoreboards and public address systems. Strong problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to perform accurate detail-oriented work, the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population and strong interpersonal skills are required. Should possess high motivation with a capacity for independent work within the context of an intensely goal-oriented environment. Must possess an unencumbered driver's license and the ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
