Job Summary:
The Assistant Women's Basketball Coach will report to the Head Women's Basketball Coach. Assist with coaching duties for the USF Women's Basketball Program, operating under NCAA bylaws. The Assistant Women's Basketball Coach will oversee and coordinate all International recruitment of prospective student athletes, as well as, serve as the liaison with the University of San Francisco International Student office. The assistant will also assist the head coach with training for athletic competition, and participate in the overall coordination of the program, as appropriate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as the lead recruiter for all international recruitment of prospective international student athletes. Assist the head coach with organizing, preparing and conducting individual and team practice, training and competition. Assist in the identification and recruitment of potential student-athletes for the women's basketball program, in accordance with WCC and NCAA regulations, guidelines and standards. Serve as the liaison with the University of San Francisco International Student Life office. Ensure that the international student athletes are successful in their transition to the University of San Francisco community. Lead, monitor, and coordinate training and practice sessions, ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained. Provide day-to-day guidance, assistance, and support to lower level staff on coaching practices and techniques, if applicable. Assistance in the coordination and administration of the women's basketball program. Represents the athletic department and basketball program to various institutional programs and externally to the media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the general public. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEGDE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Required: Bachelor's degree in related field or one year minimum towards Masters in Sport Management. At least four years of Division I experience as a student-athlete and/or collegiate coaching experience in women's basketball. Proven and successful recruiting of international student athletes. Ability to travel oversees to recruit prospective student athletes. Knowledge of NCAA student-athlete academic eligibility requirements and knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules.

Preferred: Master's in Sport Management

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Foster a cooperative work environment. Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in women's basketball. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Knowledge of travel/lodging planning, scheduling, organizing and coordinating skills. Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise.
