Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach

Salary:
Compensation will be based on education and experience.

Note: This position is full-time, exempt, and non-benefited. This is a temporary assignment and will end on or before May 31, 2021. Athletic Corporation employees are at-will.

Overview:
Under the direction of the Interim Head Women's Lacrosse Coach, the Assistant Coach assists in coaching the women's lacrosse team. The incumbent will promote intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the university. This position will assist the Interim Head Coach in planning and directing the education of student athletes in the techniques, skills, and theory of women's lacrosse. This individual will support the conditioning and training of athletic team members in conjunction with strength/weight coaches, athletic trainers and team physicians. They will assist as requested in contest scheduling and coordination of team travel. This position will require an extensive knowledge of defensive concepts and proven success. This position will coordinate with the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Services with NCAA, conference, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and university rules and regulations, ensure student compliance with written team rules, and assist in the promotion of fundraising activities and/or the promotion of events, as requested. This position will be designated as defensive based coaching, clinic and camp assistant, travel coordinator and equipment point person. A proven winning ability at the collegiate level as a player or coach is strongly sought after.

Position Summary:
Student-Athlete Skill Instruction and Team Preparation:
Teach all basic and advanced skills required in the sport of women's lacrosse. The teaching of these skills and the development of those student-athletes occurs year round during individual skill sessions, team practices, and conditioning sessions independent of the Interim Head Coach. This includes the independent development and implementation of sound and safe practice plans that successfully prepare the student-athletes with the fundamentals of the specific sport. Responsible for assisting the Interim Head Coach in developing a comprehensive and strategic game plan for each scheduled contest throughout the season. This includes, but is not limited to, evaluating upcoming opponents by breaking down game tapes, preparing a scouting report for the student-athletes and advising the head coach on making adjustments to the game plan during contests.

Administrative Responsibilities:
The Assistant Coach will be responsible for the organization and coordination of a wide variety of administrative tasks as assigned by the head coach, which include, but not limited to, team travel, facility usage, public relations, marketing, community service and other daily operations for the program. The Assistant Coach is required to work independently with various support services in the Department of Athletics and campus constituents carrying out these tasks.

NCAA Rules and Compliance:
Responsible for knowledge of, and adherence to, NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to recruiting, eligibility, and general operation of the women's lacrosse program. To be eligible to recruit off-campus, the assistant coach must pass the NCAA Recruiting Exam on an annual basis.

The Assistant Coach will log CARA hours on a weekly basis and will maintain detailed records for compliance as well for the Interim Head Coach.

Required Knowledge:
Familiarity and compliance with the Division 1 NCAA rules and compatibility with the coaching philosophy of the Head Coach

Ability to work effectively with the faculty, staff, students, and supporters from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and support the gender and diversity goals of the department and lacrosse program
Ability to be professional at all times as laid out in the rules and expectations provided by the Interim Head Coach and to represent the university, Athletic Department, and Women's Lacrosse Program both on and off the field with integrity, sportsmanship, pride, and honor
Must possess or be able to obtain an unrestricted California driver's license within 60 days of accepting the job and must meet California State University, Fresno's safe driving criteria as posted at http://www.csufresno.edu/drms/riskmgt/driving/defensdriving.shtml .
A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations


Education and Experience:
Required Education:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution

Required Experience:
Prior coaching experience, collegiate or club level


Preferred Skills:
Prior experience playing lacrosse at the collegiate level; Division 1 level is highly recommended Knowledge of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rules and regulations

At least 3 years of collegiate Division 1 playing experience

Proven winner at the Division 1 collegiate level as a player or coach

Strong knowledge of various social media outlets Strong knowledge Hudl
